Lost Treasure is a collaborative project between paper artist Anna Normand and embroidery artist Alexandra Latour, who have combined their creative worlds to explore the boundaries between materials, techniques and innovation.
Driven by a shared ecological awareness, they have adopted an eco-responsible approach, using natural materials to create a work that reinvents materiality and celebrates the poetry of gesture.
Lost Treasure is an amphora born from the exploration of paper and seaweed as living materials. Handcrafted from seaweed, bio-based paper fibres and vegetable resin, it evokes the silent relics that the sea has preserved over the centuries.
The piece is made from a paste composed of seaweed, paper pulp and vegetable resin, applied to a mould, then dried and sanded to obtain a smooth surface ready for embroidery.
The embroidery, done on silk tulle, combines ribbons, paper sequins, cabochons and beads handmade from paper and paste, all sewn with gold thread using the Lunéville crochet technique.
Once completed, the embroidery is carefully attached to the amphora, then wrapped in a thin layer of paper fibres, giving the whole piece a soft, velvety and organic texture.
