Wave

In many cultures, water is the very expression of movement. It is characterised by its fluidity, its ability to change shape and its elusiveness.

The ‘Waves’ project embodies this spirit of metamorphosis.Emerging from a smooth surface, the drops trickle down the landscape, gradually forming a stream that curves into a Wave.

The ripple appears, disrupting the chaotic movement that eventually transforms into a Wave. The thin strips of paper visualise the water currents, while the holes simulate the drops.

The methodical collage of layers of paper creates the effect of waves springing from the flat surface of the panels, while the play of shadows highlights the sinuous movements.

This project is made with Alga Carta paper from Favini, whose cellulose comes from algae that pollute the coastline in Europe.
